What are some of the best ways to organically grow your email list?

What are some of the best ways to organically grow your email list?

Why is having an increasing email list important to a startup?

The first way to do this is to collect 3 emails every day. Each day go out there and collect 3 new emails.  It could be at Starbucks, it could be at a coffee shop, or it could be at your school if your in school; it doesn't matter. Get 3 people's email addresses and say "Hey I've got a great subscription, I've got a great newsletter that I send out that's free tips on whatever it is that you like to do, and I want to tell you about it, so I'd love for you to be a member, and by the way I send it out maybe, lets say once a week." Make it clear that this isn't just some sort of spam digest, and that this is actually valuable content. If you get to know them, shake their hand and tell them your name, and what you are about. Every day you should collect 3 emails, and over time that will accumulate to more than a 1,000 emails, per year. Our second point is when you write great content that's shareable, important, and viral, that will turn out to be more than just 3 emails a day because people will forward your content, and as a result, you will get more subscriptions.

Number 1: collect 3 emails each day. That should be an absolute goal, no nebulous goal, specifics.

Number 2: Write content that's share-able, important, and viral.

Make sure to send emails once a week with shareable content.

What I've said on our previous lessons is that you can not expect people to want to open your email if it's always a pitch. If you're always asking for money, or asking them to buy your product or service, your readers will soon catch on and automatically delete your email. You've got to write content that's shareable. Maybe it's top tips, or rankings like we do at Angel Kings, or maybe it's just some funny things that happened with your startup that week.  It doesn't matter as long as your reader can connect to your content. If you write content that's shareable, you can increase your list by 1,000% per year.

If you write content that's shareable, you can increase your list by 100% per year.

Number 3 is this: Timing matters. Listen to me carefully. You should not be sending emails at the start of any day. Mondays are especially the worst time you could send an email. If you've got a list of lets say 1,000 people, you can use several platforms such Campaign Monitor, Mad Mimi, or Mail Chimp. The timing matters and you should be sending emails - at least one email a week - without flooding your readers' inboxes. Note: When you send that one email, it should either be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays.

Now you're one of the rare few, or one of the lucky few rather that can actually use this. We've actually looked at one of our favorites, which is a company called Buffer, that they've analyzed the time in which people post social media posts and how relevant they are. We've actually read phenomenal content from different websites that tell us that Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are always the best. So send emails then, and at what time? We recommend either 10am on those days or 6:30pm. So Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Now those are the 3 top free ways to increase your email list by 1,000%.
